Colonel, arrested in controversial ‘slippers’
Colonel, arrested in controversial ‘slippers’ - Authorities arrested former Highway Patrol Group (HPG) chief Col. Bonifacio Bosita in Surigao del Sur in connection with the controversial “slippers” case last year.
According to the CARAGA Police report, on Thursday, elements of the Tago Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by P/Major Marietes Salanguit arrested Bosita, who is also the leader of the Riders Safety Advocates of the Philippines (RSAP) under a warrant of arrest in case of grave coercion and usurpation of authority or official functions.
Last year, Bosita chastised a traffic officer of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) who arrested a motorcycle rider because his rider was wearing only slippers.
In the viral video, Bosita can be seen encouraging MMDA personnel to pay the rider's salary of P611 per day because he failed to report for work after he was arrested.
As a result, it was the source of trouble between Bosita and MMDA traffic czar Edison “Bong” Nebrija when the latter defended the arrest made by his traffic officer on the said rider.
